FOR most people the stress of putting up the Christmas tree and dragging the decorations out of the loft is quite enough.
But one family in Jersey clearly revel in the preparations. Beginning their planning in the summer, the De Sousa family have created what must be the biggest and most complex Nativity scene in the Island.
Father-of-four Joao Gomes De Sousa has already welcomed over 100 people to his garage to see his creation after his excited children – Alex (8), David (7), Cristiano (4) and Fabiana (13) – told neighbours and school friends about it.
Mr De Sousa said: ‘Last year I created something like this in Madeira where this sort of thing is typical. I think that this is the best thing for Christmas as you need more than just a tree to mark the occasion. We have even had one class of schoolchildren come and visit. They all took a picture and said how wonderful it was. People just love it and I am very happy to see them so excited.’

This is exactly the sort of “good news” story we have needed for a long time.

Good on you mate – beats all the chavvy Christmas lights that some people ‘decorate’ their homes and gardens with.
