Islanders are being urged to participate in a household spending and income survey
ISLANDERS are being urged to participate in a household spending and income survey over the Christmas period.
The survey was launched in May to gather information about the spending habits and income in Jersey homes.
A sample of households is chosen each month at random and asked to participate for two weeks.
Each household member who takes part receives £10 as a thank-you gesture and is also entered into a quarterly prize draw.

why not hold a census, ask the questions, get the answers. form a plan of action, and get on with it.
we even may find out how many are here.

Hello David Brown!
In order to know what a cake tastes like, one only has to eat a mouthful – although a slice might be better – but not the entire cake.
All the more so when it comes to ascertaining the spending habits of around 90,000 people.
Happy Christmas, David!

What I omitted from my earlier response (I must have eaten too much cake)was that if one doesn’t like the taste of the cake one can adjust the recipe.
In other words, having sampled the spending habits of a sample of the population, the appropriate conclusions can be drawn.

Go on, it will save the civil servants the trouble of looking up the tax returns.
Too many civil servants, too little work to go around?

What braniac thought of this idea? And giving away taxpayers money as well!
In the UK anyone bar the government pay for these investigations because there is no money to pay for it. But in Jersey we can’t think of anything better to spend the public coffers on and to boot give away a tenner as well!
Do we have to declare the tenner as income on our tax return?!

£10 per survey – the States must have money to burn! As someone else stated most market research of this ilk certainly is being collected at £10 a pop.
Would be funny if it wasn’t our money.
