Historical abuse: Former teacher is charged
Thursday 24th December 2009, 2:58PM GMT.
THE sixth man to be charged as part of the historical abuse inquiry – a former teacher – appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Jersey-born Julian George Thorne (43), of Rue Horman, Grouville, was charged with three counts of indecently assaulting a boy when he was aged between 13 and 14 by touching him inappropriately. The incidents are alleged to have happened about 27 years ago.
The court heard that Mr Thorne had spent most of his life in Jersey, but was a former teacher in New Zealand who returned to the Island in 2001.
The court granted bail with a number of conditions and adjourned the case until 13 January.
