THE sale of buildings in the States property portfolio raised £6.1 million this year.
Property Holdings, a States company that administers about 900 properties owned by the public, sold six properties this year, making £6.1 million.
Among the six properties were Rozel Mill – which sold for £70,000 – and the former Sunshine Hotel at Havre des Pas, which brought in £3 million.
Assistant Treasury Minister John Le Fondré said: ‘We made £6.1 million against a target of about £4 million. That assumes that everything that we have agreed to will go through the Royal Court. In 2008 we raised £1.75 million.’

At what cost? What is the Property Holdings Department budget?

Rozel Mill sold for £70,000 Hmmm.
Bet that went through without too much publicity!

Oh well only another 40 odd million needed to fill the void !!!

#2 i don’t think you’ll see that as the mill already stands in the grounds of a very nice property. go and have a look at it instead of writing your usual dribble.

How much could be saved if the States got rid of the ‘vacant lots’ amongst their number. £millions if you could take even a small proportion of the hair-brained ideas that get sanctioned.

Nice idea of selling some of the State’s jewels in the crown but what happens when these are gone. What then gets sold to raise funds?
With stories abound on inventive ways to raise funds I’d offer my virginity but alas that option has faded….. far far faded.

The proposed sales should be posted and published at all times to prevent Deals for mates happening….it must be transparent…or how on earth could the voters be expected to believe in what’s happening…..that’s all
Is it really too much to ask for honesty and integrity from those entrusted with what is actually ours…yes ours.me and you.

Thanks for the information on the Mill, Mick.
I’ll try not to dribble in future while I’m writing drivel, I’ll be lost if I ruin the keyboard.
However let’s wait and see what happens to the mill shall we?
Ever seen an Oast House renovation in Kent? Or a mill turned into a Pub?
If I’m looking at the right place on Google Sat View there looks like plenty of scope for an architect.

I know the family personally and they bought the mill so they could have some privicy as it stood in the middle of their front garden and the public would just walk in

Calm down people, everyone could write for the Daily Mail here.
Firstly I don’t want a government holding on to useless assets that drain the taxpayer in maintenance but give nothing back. They should sell off all the properties that have no use, at market value, so the proceeds can be put to better use and to prevent issues of legacy etc.
In this case it appears the owners of the adjacent property purchased the mill so they could extend their land and increase their privacy. Seems to have sparked a lot of green in people here. £70k may not sound like much but that’s probably the market value for a useless mill that requires maintenence. If this building is protected through some site of special interest order then the sale has taken the liability for upkeep off the tax payer and placed it onto the private owner

you’d have a hard job making a pub out of it!
