TRINITY Shield holders St Brelade and last season’s beaten finalists Grouville were both knocked out of this season’s competition yesterday afternoon, at the first time of asking.

St Brelade crashed 6-2 to St Saviour in a first-round tie at Les Quennevais while Grouville went out 4-2 on a penalty shoot-out against St Martin at Le Boulivot after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes and extra time.

St Lawrence were also successful in their first-round match yesterday winning 4-0 against St Peter at Les Quennevais.

St Martin scored in the final minute to force extra-time against Grouville and after a goal-less extra time they then had goalkeeper James Perchard to thank for their success as he saved two penalty kicks.
