External review of WEB performance

Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur
THE past and current performance of the Waterfront Enterprise Board will be reviewed by an external company and the report completed by February.
Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur said that the findings would be made public and States Members would have them before a debate on whether to set up a new company to develop surplus States property assets.
Last year the Council of Ministers proposed setting up the Jersey Development Company, which would take over the activities of WEB but with responsibility for developing much more of the Island. But plans were halted after the States voted to refer the matter back to the Council of Ministers for further research.
They wanted a review of WEB before they committed to setting up a company that could develop any of the States’ 900 property assets, estimated to be worth £1.6 billion.
The Assembly is due to debate the plans again in March. If they are approved, the company would be able to develop all States-owned property, as well as the Waterfront, but would only ‘project deliver’ the schemes.

Pity they cannot do anything about the costs that always seem to rocket when States involvement is mentioned

More tax money for an external company that will be payed to find no fault with web, but will pull the wool over the public’s eyes.

I wonder if that company will have links to 7 Bedford Row? I sense another whitewash happening..
Talking of 7 Bedford Row, when will the JEP actually do some proper journolistic work and produce a story about the aformentioned lawyers and the amount of taxpayers money given to them to sort out any little problem the Establishment has? All the evidence is in the public domain.. Whats keeping you?

Talk about closing the door after the horse has bolted! The damage to the waterfront, Jersey’s facade has been ongoing and obvious to all who care about the island.
An enquiry is not going to resolve or correct the past mistakes. Those responsible for careless decisions should have been held accountable long ago. Why pay out more good money after bad in pursuit of a pointless conclusion.
The waterfront development could have been a world recognized sshow case instead of the slum that has been created.
