Vladic from Russia performs feats of balance (00860301)
AN international troupe of performers – from Colombian acrobats to Dutch illusionists – have brought some festive sparkle to the Waterfront.
For the second winter in a row, Gandey’s International Christmas Circus has returned to the Island – but many acts are different from last year.
The most impressive act was six Colombian acrobats, Los Colombinos Voladores. They took it in turns to be launched into the air from a Russian swing, and balance on top of one another’s shoulders in between doing a spot of street dancing.
Other eye-catching acts included the illusionist Andrew Van Buren, who cut his assistant in half and made her float on a bed on knives; and Albert Absalov, who balanced objects on the end of a knife held in his mouth.
For parents in Jersey, it is fantastic that shows like this are coming to the Island during the Christmas holidays – and if the smiles on the faces of the hundreds of children leaving the big top were anything to go by, then there is plenty of demand for Gandey’s Circus to return for a third Christmas next year. The circus runs until Sunday.
