FOUR Jersey juniors, Josh Band, Max and Hugo Tupper and Luke Walker all acquitted themselves well in the London Open Grand Prix Table Tennis tournament this month.

Band finished in the top 16 of band 4, the Tuppers finished in the top 16 of band 6 with Max advancing as far as the quarter-finals, while in band 5 Walker won his preliminary group on countback.

All four did exceptionally well in their qualifying rounds to either top or finish second in their groups before the next, more difficult stages, and Band also topped his group in band 3 before he was eliminated by the highly-ranked Sulivan Morais.

JTTA president Chris Band said: ‘All four of our juniors had some excellent wins and learnt a great deal at this hugely prestigious event. I am sure that it won’t be long before one of them wins a banded event at a future senior Grand Prix tournament.’
