Jack and the Jersey Beanstalk
Tuesday 5th January 2010, 11:45AM GMT.

Guy Browning (Squire Le Sueur), Natalie Kelly (Jack) and Mike Monticelli ( Dame Le Main) (00861859)
The Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club’s production of Jack and the Jersey Bean Stalk has all an Island audience could wish for in a pantomime.
There is the traditional audience participation, very hummable sing-along (or clap-along) tunes played on the piano, topical political references and lots of ‘Jerseyness’ in both the stage accents and the subject matter – as implied by the title.
Giant Don’t Care (Craig Roberts) was the star of the performance, along with Mazie, the emergency acting fairy (Liz Breen). Also worth a special note were Mike Monticelli as Dame Le Main, Gabrielle Robbe as Lilly and Daisy the Jersey cow (created by Richard Henwood).
When it was first produced in 1983, the show was taken around the parish halls. Now, as then, this ‘genuine Jersey’ pantomime is very much a community event, and great fun for anyone who enjoys traditional seasonal panto fare.
