Icy roads mean schools will stay closed on the first day of term
Island schools are to stay closed today, the first day of term, because of the freezing conditions.
Education took the decision after Connex decided that the roads were too dangerous to run the school bus service. However, St Michael’s School will open at 10 am.
Some scheduled bus services are running but not necessarily the full route because of ice on hills.
Islanders were warned yesterday to expect snow overnight and further snow showers this afternoon.
