GAS prices will be increased by an average of five per cent this month.

Jersey Gas has announced that from Wednesday 20 January customers will be paying an extra 0.43p per unit or 2.99p per litre for domestic heating.

Managing director of Jersey Gas Paul Garlick blamed high fuel costs in the last quarter of 2008 for the increases.

‘We were hoping that crude oil prices might fall back and we would not have to raise prices,’ he said. ‘But there were no signs of it abating and we had to pass it on to the customer.’

Is this to offset the 5% deduction from the JEC? Sorry cant understand how blaming 2008 fuel costs works when fuel costs lowered in 2009? Surely that would offset? How many states members have shares in Jersey Gas then ..as always joe public cops it and you get away with it surprise surprise.. if we were to adapt the same policies and processes as the UK this would have conflict of interest written all over it

So electricity is cheaper than gas, even before the JEC dropping the price? Jersey Gas had the nerve to argue recently that the report was incorrect, how wrong were they.
I am so glad I don’t have to use gas anymore and switch to electric, Jersey gas, you are just too expensive!
