The scene at the Airport yesterday
JERSEY Airport was closed this morning after a blanket of thick snow and ice covered the runway.
Early morning flights arriving and departing were either cancelled or delayed, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded for a second day and having to make alternative travel plans.
The runway reopened at 10 am after staff worked through the night to de-ice the runway and parking areas.
As advised by the Airport and airlines, passengers were still being told to check in as normal.
Flybe cancelled two of their inbound and outbound mid-morning flights to Gatwick and Southampton, while Islanders travelling to and from Guernsey also experienced lengthy delays and cancellations.
The British Airways red-eye to Gatwick was delayed until further notice and the mid-morning flight was also cancelled.
