MORE heavy snow could be on its way tonight as forecasters predict wintry showers and freezing conditions will last through the weekend.
Overnight 4 cm of snow fell in some parts and Islanders again woke up to icy roads after overnight temperatures dropped to freezing.
Drivers are being advised not to make journeys unless absolutely necessary while walkers are also being urged to take extra care on pavements because there is not enough manpower to salt them.
Today schools were closed for a second day and all bus services were cancelled and a number of events were also called off. Education director Mario Lundy said it was very likely that schools would remain closed tomorrow and asked parents to make the necessary arrangements for their children.

Why is it that connex will not take there buses out at the first flake of snow, so instead of 1 vehile carring 20 people on the road we have 20 cars instead as so many people will not car share. Maybe all bus drivers should be sent on a course to show them how to drive and control their buses in snow conditions. Why dont they fix the buses with snow chains.

Drama queens up at the met office. Couldn’t predict their own birthdays!
One head met officer, plus 16 staff cant get the weather forecast right.
I look daily at one free website and it is pretty much spot on, even shows the weather patterns in 3 hour intervals. I suggest that the States employ just two met officers (to cover sickness and holidays) and get a subscription to one of these sites.
The money saved could be spent on grit!
