THE weather has skittled Jersey Spartan AC’s plans to send 28 athletes over to the Hampshire Cross Country Championships tomorrow, with the event being cancelled late yesterday.

Among the seniors due to have been racing were former Hampshire champion Jo Gorrod, who had decided to return to the championships after taking a few years out, while triathlete Dan Hawksworth and Tom Brown would have been making their débuts in the senior men’s race over 11.5 km.

It’s a big disappointment, too, for the juniors, with no new date available for the 2010 championships.
