HEAVY snow caught the Island by surprise on Friday night as thousands of people struggled to get home in the rush hour.

Buses stopped wherever they were leaving passengers to make their way on foot while many people abandoned their cars and walked home. The snow fell just before 5 pm and virtually brought the Island’s road network to a standstill.

This morning, Connex said that there would be no bus service today. Further information can be obtained from their website www.mybus.je.

Police have warned people not to make journeys unless absolutely necessary as some roads remain frozen and further snow is expected later today.
