JERSEY Spartans’ cross country runners could miss out on representing Hampshire in this year’s Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships.

With the cancellation of Saturday’s Hampshire Cross Country Championships JSAC team manager Paul Raimbault explained that the runners had lost their main qualifying competition.

He said: ‘Being in Jersey and not able to travel over to the UK to race all the time, we tend to pick one or two events and Saturday’s race has always been a qualifying event for us to get into the Inter-Counties side.

‘Quite a few of our juniors made the county team last year and it would be a shame if we didn’t have any representatives for Hampshire this year.’
