Janvrin triumph in CI final

JANVRIN School defeated Victoria College Preparatory in the Channel Islands Primary Schools’ seven-a-side football tournament final yesterday held in Guernsey, at Hautes Capelles School.

Despite Victoria taking the lead through Iain McCallum, Janvrin hit back with a brace from Jake Prince to win 2-1 after extra time.

Janvrin School now have the privilege of representing the Channel Islands in the south-west primary schools’ county finals at Millfield School in March.

‘I’m absolutely delighted and I’m really pleased for them,’ said coach Steve Ashton. ‘Victoria College Prep have got a hoodoo over us so to beat them was the icing on the cake. We’ve come close to them, but we’ve never beaten them.’
