JERSEY-based home shopping group Flying Brands was adversely affected by strikes by Royal Mail workers in the run-up to Christmas.
The company moved its postal flowers business Flying Flowers to the UK in October and early Christmas sales were hit by the industrial action, according to a trading statement issued this week.
The company said that one of three flower mailings landed between the two national strikes. On top of that, the main despatch window coincided with some of the worst weather in the run-up to Christmas.
Despite those setbacks, the company met its sales expectations and its share price rose 11 per cent earlier this week after the results were announced.
