Changing times: The NatWest Weekend League will introduce coloured tops

VICTORIA College 1st XI are to play league cricket in the Premier Division of the NatWest Weekend League for the first time next season.

Clubs approved the move this week and with Fairbairn SCF returning to the top flight, after a season in Division I, the number of teams competing in the Premier Division this summer is increased by two to seven.

Another major change this season sees players wearing coloured clothing, while a white ball will also be used for the first time.

Playing with a white ball and coloured clothing replicates what the ICC are doing in the forthcoming season in senior matches and at under-19 levels.

The College’s inclusion will help them improve their fixture programme while their players will get more exposure against better standard players, therefore helping Jersey Cricket Board junior squads further in their preparation for ICC tournaments.
