Finance worker dies in Colombia
Tuesday 19th January 2010, 2:59PM GMT.
AN Islander holidaying in Colombia has died after falling from a hotel balcony.
Jamie McCormick (23) died in the early hours of Sunday. Tributes have been pouring on to Mr McCormick’s Facebook page as his friends learned of his death, and by last night there were more than 100 tributes to the finance worker.
Inspector Alan Williamson, of the States police, said that officers received notification of the death of a Jersey resident in his 20s in Colombia on Sunday.
The police are expecting an update from the Colombian authorities later today on what led to Mr McCormick’s death.
It is believed that he fell from a balcony of a hotel in Colombia, but that has to be confirmed by the Colombian authorities.

Jamie was one of the most friendly, happy guys I have ever known, and so much fun to be around. He had a heart of gold and lit up any room he walked into. A terrible tragedy, my thoughts are with all of Jamie’s family and friends. Rest in Peace Jamie x
