OVER 70 juniors took part in the fifth Advisa cross-country series event, held at Beauport on Saturday.

THE closest race of the day featured Samuel Maher sprinting clear of Jack Peggie at the finish in the boys’ 9-10 age category to win in 8.34, one second clear of his rival.

With runners competing in four age groups the course consisted of a 1 km anti-clockwise loop which started at the top end of the common overlooking the car park with a dip into the woods and a climb back towards the finishing/starting line. The 7-8 age group ran one lap and the older age groups ran two.

The next race is at Kempt Tower on Saturday 6 February. For further details contact Peter Hinds on 862436 or email paul.raimbault@jerseymail.co.uk
