Zane Duquemin: Demolished the long-standing record in the South of England meeting
ANOTHER year, another record for teenage shot putt sensation Zane Duquemin.
The 18-year-old demolished the long- standing under-20 men’s shot putt record on his way to winning the gold medal at the South of England Athletics Association Indoor Championships on Sunday.
The Jersey Spartan AC athlete’s throw of 17.80m, which put him more than three metres ahead of his nearest rival, smashed the original record, set in 1997, by exactly one metre.
There was also success for regular podium topper Kathryn Rothwell as the 16-year-old threw a massive personal best of 12.31m with her last throw of the competition to win the u20 women’s shot, edging out Anesa Wanogho by 11 cm to take the title.
