THE visit of two International Island Games Association executive committee members to Jersey ‘could not have gone any better’.
That is the view of the chairman of Jersey’s Island Games 2015 bid committee, Phil Austin, who welcomed Jorgen Pettersson and James Johnston to the Island on Thursday night.
Reflecting on how the visit went the chairman said: ‘They didn’t give us an awful lot of feedback but we thought that it went very well. It was quite exhausting as they arrived on Thursday evening and left yesterday morning with a really full programme in between.’
Their visit included a tour of the Island’s sports venues and possible Games accommodation.

Win a share of £10,000
2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.
Well its a shame that Jersey dont promote the less popular sports, despite their huge success in previous Island Games (e.g. gymnastics and squash)
I hope Jersey dont get it because of their stingey attitude – if your not going to invest in sports facilities, and will go for the cheapest option, then I hope it takes place somewhere else

Another drain on the tax payer

Wont be that much of a drain – its not like they’ll build new facilities like other host Islands do

It will bring in much needed income to a lot of business sectors – retailers, hoteliers, bars and clubs will benefit LOCAL sportsmen and women saving the Jersey team money going off Island to compete – don’t be so negative! – Mick
