DOZENS of primary school children showed off their skills during a five-a-side football competition at Fort Regent on Saturday.

Twenty-seven schools took part in the annual Ron Lobb Trophy competition. The Victoria College Preparatory team won all eight games in the group stage before beating La Moye in the semi-finals. The VCP youngsters then went on to beat Janvrin 1-0 in the final.

Organiser Danny Doyle, deputy head teacher at Les Landes School, said: ‘This is the only opportunity over the year for all 27 primary schools in the league to come together and find a champion team

‘A total of 197 goals were scored over the morning, teferees were excellent in running the games and the 27 schools transferred the energy and determination usually seen out on the grass pitches to this indoor tournament.’
