‘Little chance’ of swine flu outbreak
Thursday 28th January 2010, 2:59PM GMT.

Medical Officer of Health Dr Rosemary Geller
THE threat of a major swine flu outbreak in Jersey is almost over, the Medical Officer of Health has said.
The Health Department yesterday revealed that no Islanders were diagnosed with the virus last week. It was the first time since last June that no new cases were diagnosed over a seven-day period.
Dr Rosemary Geller said that the Island is now unlikely to see a significant outbreak of the disease, which has affected 704 Islanders in the last seven months.
She said: ‘The fact that we had no cases of swine flu in Jersey last week is fantastic news. It is now highly likely that we will see no more than just a few new cases of the disease being diagnosed each week during the current flu season, which ends in March.’

YAWN! i guess this epidemic no doubtedly soon to be turned into another screen epic by
James Cameron has worn itself out.
I never got vaccinated and didnt catch it.
Many thanks to all the sheep that did and dont forget to “all” go to the movie when Mr Cameron brings it out and make him a bit richer.
The trouble with the average joe is there unable to think on an individual basis.
My point being im not about to make drug companies rich through mass hysteria, or go and see daft films about a pretend life.
Wake up good people, your brains are in danger of being turned to jelly.

As I have said in the past What outbreak!it has not gone over the one percent of the population, it hasnt anywhere in the world. If anyone read the report from the Deputy head of health it was a bit of a whoops we over reacted now we have too much of the anti virus. It was the same with bird flu, a lot of hype over nothing,
I know its a damned if you do damned if you dont scenario.
Being realistic without causing hype would make people listen to the health departments for other things without them thinking its a con, also the vaccine is a poison and its now been proven in Japan, America, france, germany and many more all these countries refused to give kids the jab and they have had no problems.
Jersey was the only place in the world to give the anti virus to all the kids, no where else in the world did due to the long term effects of the anti virus contents and the preservatives, (look them up) Still the developer of the anti virus is laughing all the way to the bank with the trillions of pounds made from this misfortune and so is the country which this company is based due to the tax made and the investers. I wish i had got shares in the company.

All that fuss….all those reports…all the scaremongering by the press was really quite disgraceful. And now the reality emerges (finally). Well at least the JEP reported the reality, even if it is not “exciting” or sensationalist news, it is for once reality that the Swine Flu was really not the big news story the press hyped it up to be. Something we all expected all along. When will the press learn to keep things in context?

So who is going to be held to account this time for wasting our cash?
How much did it cost to panic buy 2 doses for each and every islander. FREEDOM OF INFORMATION.
How much did the thermometers sent to everyone cost?
WHY did Geller panic so much?
Ridiculous state of affairs with jobsworths trying to justify their exorbitant salaries.
I guarantee this nanny state will soon a) ban alcohol + fags b) ban chips and crisps within 5 years. c) force everyone to walk everywhere wrapped in cotton wool wearing a helmet.
They are priming us already with their constant spin.
DO SOME REAL WORK like sorting out our 3rd world hospital wards, and local cancer care.

I’m afraid we had an outbreak of major swines about 25 years ago, which is why we have the current problems.

Would have been much better if they had invested the wasted tax payers money in shares of the drug companies involved.
But hey we are just joe public why should they listen to us.
If i remember correctly most of us seen through this scare mongering tactic that was used.

My understanding is that the virus is just embedding itself in the older generations, probably will not manifest itself in the Spring and Summer, but watch out for it in the coming Autumn and Winter.
Sorry but this MOH is a waste of space and totally overacted again to a minor issue. How much has this cost the taxpayer.? It should be deducted from her department and given back to those in the community who really need Health and Socail care support.

Well, well well, some Pandemic that was! Some of us did our best to talk people out of having the jab. because research had shown it to be a scam, and that there was never a Pandemic in the first place.
The Natural medicine sites had it sussed very early on.
I refused not only the Swine flu jab, but also the usual seasonal flu jab having read so much about vaccine damage, and I am a high risk case, but this is the first winter I have not had to have 2 or 3 lots of antibiotics, and several lots of steroids to get through in one piece.
My Doctor was very surprised at my good health, but I had read up on Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) and it has been discovered that about 85% of the population are deficient in the ‘Sunshine’ vitamin, and underlying almost every disease is a vitamin D3 deficiency.
Look it up, it’s a lot safer than vaccines, besides being very beneficial for all sorts of illnesses, and is very cheap to buy, no wonder the Pharmaceutical companies don’t want us to know about this – no billions of dollars to be made – Maybe Dr Geller should follow this lead up, and save us all a packet.

Maybe there will be a full accounting for the cost of the swine flu campaign but I doubt it.
The island is running a roughly 10% structural deficit but there is still little or no financial accountability, an inability to hold officers to account and value for money is a foreign concept.
This is a failure of Jersey’s government that exposes the weakness of the Council of Ministers and the continuing failure of the Chief Minister to run an effective government.
Half of the Clothier reforms is nothing at all!

Truthseeker, good and funny comment..
G get real, I had a fit friend of 42 yrsin intensive care with it, but the real problem as in all these cases was a secondary infection. Here in the US most of our family had it but the doctor was an old fashioned type whom refused to treat it as symptoms were minor.
Linda, it was a pandemic, but then a lot more pandemics go unoticed, lots of people have recurrign coughs that are almost impossible to get rid of but presumably no panacea so no mass hysteria. Vitamins are goodbut even Linus Pauling died of cancer.

I am so glad we have so many posts on this subject by so many internet drug experts, we knew it, we told you so moan, moan, moan – just be grateful someone did take precautions because if the worst did happen and nothing had been done, you would have moaned even more!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad all you optimists are telling us realists “told you so” and its not the other way around.
Well done Dr Geller, thank you.

Pandemic?,What pandemic,? Has there been a pandemic?…..
I didn’t have the vaccine, none of my family did, no point there was no pandemic, I had the flu vaccine in 1996 and got the flu after that the irony is if I hadn’t had the vaccine I would not have got the flu! enough said….
and how many of the predicted deaths occurred? scaremongering of the highest order. Hilarious.

Storm in a tea cup. LOL. That said sometimes forewarned is forearmed. At least we know that the island will look after us if ever there was a serious virus outbreak.
Come on people. Get with the programme. Our Dr Geller did a stellar job. She had to make decisions with the facts that were placed in front of her and rather then ignore the possibility of us all dying of Swine flu she chose the vaccine. I think she should be praised not ridiculed

This latest “news” gives me the shivers. Never underestimate the power of marketing !

It is very curious that the REPORTED incidence of cases per 1000 of the island population is HIGHER than in other areas (countries) where there was no knee-jerk reaction to provide wide spread vaccination.
Maybe, just maybe, there needs to be a very careful analysis of this, as from my interpretation, the vaccination has created more incidents, and more risk, rather than reduced the risk.
