JERSEY continues to make a name for itself in the culinary world with 30 restaurants making into the world-famous Michelin guide.

It follows a successful year of publicity for the Island with many celebrity chefs and national television programmes endorsing Jersey’s local produce.

And El Tico, Cardington House and the Bass and Lobster have become the Jersey’s latest additions to the guide, which covers Great Britain and Ireland.

Each restaurant included in the guide has been visited by an inspector and assessed as ‘high-quality’, dependent on a range of budgets, styles and cuisines. The Atlantic and the Club Hotel and Spa are the only two that have coveted Michelin stars.

I wonder if all these high falutin’ restaurateurs will deign to participate in the next “Tennerfest”?

If they do so condescend, what will they offer for a tenner?

what do you really expect for a tenner?

Tennerfest is a great idea but is it really affordable now, with rent, staff ect to cover, never mind the actual food ingrediants?

We had a lovely lunch at the Bohemia restaurant during Tennerfest. Granted, it didn’t cost a tenner but I think 17 pounds plus drinks, which is not that cheap but it was a great opportunity to eat there.

I wish I were back in Jersey :-)

Bass & Lobster do a £10 two course menu anyway so its Tennerfest all year round! The food is fantastic and I would highly recommend a visit. And no I dont work there, just eaten there a few times.

Tennerfest is not about making money directly but coming up with an innovative fixed price meal that shows the chef’s skills and the restaurant off to best advantage and makes friends for the future.
Most people will spend more than the basic price per head so there is added profit in the drinks etc and really there is the possibility of a full price booking for a birthday, Valentine’s Day, etc in the future.

Oh for heavens sake Magnolia can’t you be happy that something is actually improving in Jersey.

If you don’t like the prices go elsewhere, but places like these willpul in more tourism over time than the Tourism Department ads.

That is if the States can stop finding ways of killing and polluting local produce. Moules a la PCB…
