Jersey’s Becky Herbert was named Player of the Tournament Picture: ADY KERRY
JERSEY hockey star Beckie Herbert helped her UK club to victory in the National Indoor Hockey Championship yesterday.
In doing so, the 23-year-old Leicester player scored two goals and was named player of the tournament. The team beat Slough in the final to given them their first National indoor title since 1978.
Herbert said that it had been a ‘brilliant’ game. ‘In the past we have had a history of being relegated so we really didn’t expect to win, it feels great.’
Herbert was in a similarly devastating form in the semi-final on Saturday as she netted a goal for Leicester in their 3-1 victory against Canterbury.
