TWO leading Jersey and Guernsey law firms are to merge to create the Channel Islands’ largest practice.
The union of Mourant du Feu & Jeune and Ozannes will create a business with the highest number of Channel Island partners,
The new firm will be known as Mourant Ozannes and it is aimed to complete the merger by the beginning of May. It will employ about 400 staff working from offices in Jersey, Guernsey, London and the Cayman Islands.
More than 200 will be fee earners and there will be 50 partners practising across the group.
Staff at both firms were told about the deal yesterday, either at face-to-face meetings or by email. They were informed that the aim is to allow the business to grow and that job losses were unlikely.
