AFTER their 35-10 win over Sutton and Epsom away from home on Saturday Jersey RFC have restored their 12-point lead over second place Old Albanians in National League III London and SE.

For while they were picking up a bonus point for the five tries they scored, Old Albanians couldn’t match them despite their 23-8 win over third-placed Bracknell.

And, although Sutton and Epsom’s team manager Sean O’Grady talked about ‘damage limitation’ after the game, he was as surprised as his players when they took a 10-8 lead into the dressing room at half-time.

‘Half of the team only came back from a stag do in Prague late last night!’ he said, ‘and after losing in Jersey (45-0) this was one game none of us were looking forward to.
‘To say I was surprised that we were ahead after 40 minutes is putting it mildly. But it did make for an interesting second half!’
