Tanguy Tomes as the Bosun and Liam Clements as Captain Tempest
STUDENTS at Victoria College transported Islanders to another world last week.
For four nights, the college staged the ‘rock ’n’ roll Shakespearean space musical’ Return to the Forbidden Planet.
The production involved 40 pupils from the secondary school ranging in age from 11 through to 18 years old, as well as five girls from JCG.
Written by Bob Carlton, the play has a cult following nationally. It is a blend of the Shakespeare play The Tempest and the science fiction B movie Forbidden Planet and also includes around 25 rock ‘n’ roll songs.
The performance was directed by the College’s head of drama, Emma O’Prey, and ran in the Howard Davis Theatre from Wednesday until Saturday.
