MORE than 100 Jersey Telecom posts are to go, with 17 being forced out of their jobs as the company finishes slashing £4 million a year from its wage bill.
The States-owned business has reduced its workforce by a quarter and 104 people have either gone or are in the process of leaving the company.
It is known that the company wants to complete the process by the end of March, but some staff may stay on longer to ensure that customers are not affected.
A total of 17 people are being made compulsorily redundant.
JT say that the number was ‘lower than anticipated’. The vast majority are voluntary, with 87 staff members accepting a ‘generous’ redundancy package.
A further 35 have agreed to go on a voluntary basis in the first wave of departures, with the majority of the 52 to follow before the end of March.
