Mixed fortunes for squash players

JERSEY squash players suffered mixed fortunes in the National Championships in Manchester yesterday.
Of the Bedell Group quartet of Islanders who took to the court in various age groups, Allen Brown took pride of place by defeating a seeded player in the men’s over-60s.
Brown won 3-2 against Devon’s Mike Taylor, seeded five-to-eight, following some impressive play.
Jersey Squash and Racketball Club director Nick Taylor, who plays in the men’s over-35s knock-out today, said: ‘Allen played very well. Pre-tournament I fancied him to be a good bet to reach the last eight because he moves around the court like a man 20 years younger.’
