THE new HSBC Bank branch in King Street was officially opened last night to complete a £3 million refurbishment programme of three branches.

The branch was opened by the Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway, who praised the bank for supporting community projects in the Island.

He said that HSBC staff had raised £80,000 last year for charities and the bank had matched that sterling effort pound-for-pound.

The UK head of the bank’s branch network, Peter Keenan, was paying his first visit to Jersey and he told the audience that he was mightily impressed with what he had seen.
