JERSEY director of squash Nick Taylor won the over-35s’ title at the British National Championships in Manchester yesterday.
Taylor’s second outright success in the age group, his previous success was in 2007, came after a 3-0 final victory against Clive Ewins.
But the former World number 14 admitted that he was not at his best in the semi-final, where he eventually came through 3-0 against Nick Wall with 14-12 and 12-10 scores in the final two games.
Taylor said: ‘Obviously I’m delighted to have won the title again but I was nervous in the semi; it was not like me and I did not play well. I did not feel confident at all. I was slow to the front of the court and at times it was a real struggle.’
