The 2010 Jersey Enterprise Awards gala evening to be held at Fort Regent next Friday is a sell out.
Over 800 people from 79 organisations will attend the event, which is held annually to recognise the achievements of local businesses, excellence in management and the contribution individuals and organisations make to Island life.
Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean said that the record number of entries in some categories was proof that Islanders were still keen to recognise and reward successful performance, even in challenging financial conditions.
The guest speaker this year is entrepreneur and life peer Karan Faridoon Bilimoria, who co-founded Cobra Beer – a brand with a current turnover of £178 million that is sold in nearly 6,000 Indian restaurants.

Would this be the same Lord Bilimoria who has been slated in the UK press for leaving virtually all the creditors of his Cobra Beer business unpaid as it went into liquidation and then buying it back for a song via a “Pre-Pack”? Many might consider that an example of the worst type of entrepreneurial behaviour.
