Saints beat champions to claim their first title

ST PAUL’S won the women’s football divisional title for the first time on Sunday following a 5-3 victory against last year’s champions First Tower United.
Needing to avoid defeat to maintain their own title ambitions, Tower started with ten players at the FB Fields and they finished up with eight including defender Lucinda Overbury in goal.
Tower and Island striker Jodie Botterill highlighted the fact that Tower had only played three matches with a full complement of players this season.
Botterill added: ‘We’ve got a lot of kids coming through, which is promising for the future and, besides, we’ve still got a chance in a cup!’
