I suppose one day someone will do a Help Jersey concert – or perhaps not as that would not be considered pc and since when did a voluntary donation have a price tag on it, oh well back to sleep, had my moan!!!

As bad a disaster as what occured in Haiti, local Victim Support charity may have to close because of lack of funds.

Which should this amazing concert support??

Have to agree.Haiti was a major disaster but governments are now supporting it financially worldwide.Charity should begin at home with fundraising for Jersey residents although I guess that just isn’t “glamorous” enough.!

If the shoe was on the other foot you think Haiti would be doing something like this for us? I think not! As stated before charity starts at home and in this time of economic crisis giving money to some poor people is the last of my worries.

Hundreds of thousands dead of and over 3 million people affected by a disaster on a magnitude that very few of us could truly comprehend.

If the posts that have been placed thus far are true representation of the people of Jersey, I would wholehearted support the people of Haiti in not raising a finger to help the inhabitants of Jersey if the shoe was on the other foot.

All charity both local and international is worthwhile, but is some perspective and a little human decency really asking too much?

Yes charity does begin at home and I doubt that Haitians would help should (God forbid) something similar happened here in Jersey. That said, the people are so massively poor they couldn’t properly feed, clothe or home themselves before the earthquake (through absolutely no fault of their own). We are collectively a very wealthy bunch, yes even the average joe chav of St Helier. Are you A) not hungry (and I don’t mean slightly peckish fatties), B) warm and dry, and C) have somewhere to sleep at night??? Yes – well then you can stick your hand in your pocket and give a £5 to this EXTREMELY worthwhile cause.

Negativity helps know one. One good thing leads to another. Give what you can, if you have no money give time, if you have no time, give support. Buy a ticket, volunteer or just spread the word it all helps.
