Jersey’s players also batted in the nets today when not on the field in their match against Central Chandigarh XI
JERSEY’S cricketers were up against quality opponents today as they were beaten by 100 runs in their 50 over match against the Central Chandigarh XI in India.
Two young batsmen scored centuries as the hosts scored 320 for six with Jersey replying with 220 all out in 42 overs.
Matt Hague’s ten-over spell resulted in three wickets for 51 runs. Captain Ryan Driver, Andy Dewhurst and Jonny Gough all took a wicket apiece. Driver scored 53, Ben Stevens 33 and Hague 21.
Jersey Cricket Board director Chris Minty said: ‘It was a big total, it’s a small ground we are playing at and the outfield is extremely fast. We are playing against good cricketers; in fact the two young boys who scored centuries are the best I’ve seen in a very, very long time. However we stuck at it, it was warm in the field today and it was a very good work out.’
