Heidi makes her first trip to Jersey this weekend

IN the last 12 months, Heidi has played on every continent in the world, apart from Antarctica. In a DJ career that nears a decade, there aren’t many places she hasn’t been – though Jersey, she admits, is a first.

‘I have two really good friends living in Jersey, and ever since I moved to England ten years ago I’ve been meaning to get over to see them, but I never have. Unfortunately it’s only going to be a quick visit this weekend, as I have to leave the next day to go straight to another gig, but I’m really excited about it,’ she said.

The quintessential jet-setter, Canadian-born Heidi has been living in Berlin for the past year and a half, making monthly trips to London to host BBC Radio 1’s infamous In New DJs We Trust slot.

‘I lived in London for ten years, but I love living in Berlin now,’ she said. ‘I always wanted to live somewhere a bit different, and I get to play out here quite a lot. Once a month I play a residency at the Watergate Club, and I play regularly at the Panorama Bar. The music scene isn’t much different to London – the only real difference here is that it’s a little bit more laidback. It’s a cool place to live.

‘I love going back to London, though – I do miss it. It’s great that I get to go back once a month to do the Radio 1 show. Each DJ is only supposed to do six shows and then they review it, but I’ve been doing it for a year and a half now. It’s definitely given me the taste for radio. It’s an amazing platform to be able to share your music with a wider audience, and there’s not a lot of that type of music played on Radio 1. I’d love to have my own show in the future – there’s definitely a place for this kind of music.’
