Christine Holmes is an independent marketing consultant for a small number of niche clients.
She is also the project partner responsible for the delivery next Friday of the Island’s largest business event – the Jersey Enterprise Awards
When and where did you pass your test and how many times did you take it?
I passed it the second time round in Bedfordshire in 1981.
Your first car?
A brown and beige Fiesta 1.1. I loved it, and it was so distinctive that everyone knew it was mine!
Favourite car?
To look at, the Aston Martin.
Worst car?
Anything with a stupid name – and there are
lots of them around!
Current car?
I have a lovely bright red Porsche Boxster.
Dream car?
If money were no object, it would have to be an Aston Martin.
Favourite drives?
Without doubt the time we spent leaf-peeking in New England. The roads were amazing and the scenery was just breathtaking.
Motorsport interests and heroes?
I have to be honest and say that it is not a sport I follow. When I worked in the UK my employer had a special box at Silverstone which I had to attend on a regular basis. I didn’t want to be there, and the guys at work were always very jealous because they were all big motorsport fans.
Driving ambitions?
To still be driving something red, sporty and fabulous when I’m retired. (That’s ages away, of course!)
Do you think you are a good driver?
Yes. I am a careful and courteous driver,
What do you always carry with you on long journeys?
I’m not sure when I last went on a long journey, but these days it would definitely be a Satnav, because a sense of direction is definitely not my strong point!
Who would be your preferred passenger on a long journey?
To look at, Dan Carter who plays rugby for the All Blacks. For amusement factor, Dara O’Briain .
What makes you angry when you are driving?
People either talking or texting on mobile phones while driving, people who smoke when driving, and people who don’t say thank you when you have stopped to let them out. Wow – that’s a whole lot of road rage, isn’t it!
Have you ever been involved in a crash?
Yes – a serious one, too. It was my first brand new car, a little Fiesta XR2, and the front tyre blew on a dual carriageway. The car flipped over twice and ended up on its roof on the opposite carriageway. My seat belt definitely saved me, though, and I was back at work and driving again within six weeks.
What do you listen to when you are driving?
Channel 103.
How could Jersey’s roads be improved?
More road signs in Trinity – see previous comment about my sense of direction!
Do you clean your car, and if so, how often?
I don’t personally clean my car, but I do have it cleaned about once a month.
