THE Jersey Rugby Club registered a crushing 58-0 victory over Basingstoke on Saturday, maintaining their-12 point lead at the top of the National III South East league.
The huge home victories the Jersey crowd were being spoiled with before Christmas were again on the menu after the previous weekend’s away demolition of another Hampshire club, Portsmouth.
Ben Harvey’s squad hungrily devoured Basingstoke, a higher-rated outfit by far, in rattling up 58 unanswered points on the back of an awesome display of scrummaging.
Although nearest challengers Old Albanians maintained their challenge by also gaining a bonus point victory, they, and the rest of the division, are rapidly running out of games to stand any chance of denying Jersey the title in this, their National League season debut.
