Strong interest in new foundations

THE appeal of Jersey foundation structures is expected to grow strongly this year, according to an offshore legal expert.

Giles Corbin of law firm Mourant du Feu and Jeune said that foundation structures had already prompted a ‘steady flow of interest’ in the six months since they were introduced.

Mr Corbin, who is head of the law firm’s trust practice, predicts that many more will be created in 2010.

A total of 27 Jersey foundations have been set up since the legislation was introduced into Jersey law in July 2009.
