JERSEY’S hopes of promotion to Division IV took a severe jolt today with a 66-run defeat by the United States of America in Nepal.

Despite a fantastic start to the match with three wickets for 11 runs, Jersey let the USA off the hook and they closed their allotted 50 overs on 253 for six.

Jersey started slowly in their reply and they left themselves a lot to do requiring 120 runs for victory off the final 12 overs, with five wickets in hand.

Jersey Cricket Board director Chris Minty said: ‘We had a fantastic start with the ball but unfortunately we did not bowl the ball in the right places after our opening bowlers went off and the USA scored 112 runs off the final ten overs.’
