SIX Jersey boxers will take on the combined forces of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines on Saturday – with former world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno looking on as the guest of honour.

The Jersey Dinner Boxing Club’s latest extravaganza at the Hotel L’Horizon features some well known names alongside talented newcomers, all putting their best foot forward to try and secure the Corniche Apartments Gold Cup.

Captaining the Jersey Select is light-heavyweight Craig Culkin, a Leonis lad for nearly a decade and a half, who tops the bill against Jason Gardner, a marine who is ready to rumble.

Culkin, a high-profile name in Jersey sport, started his boxing career against the Royal Marines as a 17-year-old, when West Park was the venue for the Leonis tournaments.
