In search of the work of artist Adolphe Vallette
Friday 26th February 2010, 3:00PM GMT.
Fine art dealer John Falle is seeking information about an artist whose work was featured in an exhibition in Jersey nearly 40 years ago and which is now to be displayed in a major exhibition in Lyon.
An exhibition of the work of Adolphe Vallette was put on by A de Gruchy and Co in 1972 at which time the JEP ran an article stating that his widow Andrée was living at St Aubin.
Mr Falle would like to make contact with anyone with memories of MR Vallette’s work or who has a painting by him from this period that they might be willing to lend for the Lyon exhibition. This is being organised by his biographer Cecilia Lyon for whom Mr Falle is acting.
Pierre Adolphe Valette was born in St Etienne in 1875 and died in Lyon in 1942 in Lyon. His widow kept many of his paintings, which included oils, watercolours and etchings, but those displayed at de Gruchy’s in 1972 were put up for sale.
Mr Falle can be contacted by e-mail at johnfalle@fallefineart.com, by telephone on 887877 or by writing to him at Falle Fine Art, 18 Hill Street, St. Helier, JE2 4UA.
