JERSEY suffered consecutive relegations in the World Cricket League today following a seven-wicket defeat by Singapore at the Army Ground at Bhaktapur in Nepal.

Needing a victory to give them any chance of remaining in Division V, Jersey suffered a heavy defeat and as a result they will now play in Division VI in the next tournament – alongside Channel Islands neighbours Guernsey in 2011.

Jersey Cricket Board director Chris Minty said: ‘It’s frustrating to get relegated again but it must be remembered the World Cricket League is new and it is sorting itself out.

‘Yes we wanted to go up or maintain our place in the division but unfortunately it was not to be.
‘It also has to be remembered that we are a young squad and this tournament and the trip to India is going to benefit the players enormously in the long term.’
