JUNIOR football in Jersey could be played in eight single age groups from under-18s to under-11s next season.

Clubs would have no maximum number of signings but they would require a minimum of 12 players per squad.

If Dandara Jersey Football Combination clubs vote for single year age bands, players would still be able to play in two age bands as they do now.

The difference would be that age bands would not overlap on any given Sunday as they currently do now.

The single age group system would also prevent clubs from shedding players because they have more moving up from an age group than there are spaces for.

The JFC’s junior section development plan will be discussed by club officials at Fort Regent’s Don Theatre tonight, starting at 7 pm.Several parts of the plan are already being implemented.
