Steve Luce moving on from shellfish and hens
THE co-owner of Jersey Oyster, Happy Hens and Rocquaine Shellfish, Steve Luce, has sold his shareholdings in all three companies to his business partner, Chris Le Masurier.
Over the past 12 years, Jersey Oyster has expanded significantly. The shellfish farming company initially exported 30 tons a year and its seashore oyster beds covered an area of six hectares.
Currently, over 550 tons of oysters are exported annually and the operation uses 34 hectares of the foreshore in the Royal Bay of Grouville.
Commenting on his decision to sell his shareholdings, Mr Luce said: ‘I’ve had a hugely exciting and enjoyable 12 years with Jersey Oyster.
‘We’ve achieved an enormous amount and I now feel ready for new challenges, knowing that Chris wants to take the companies into the future.’
