ISLAND cricket captain Ryan Driver says Jersey’s players will benefit enormously from having played in the ICC World Cricket League Division V tournament in Nepal.
Despite Jersey suffering relegation, Driver believes the Island side will bounce back but where they will eventually settle in the WCL only time will tell. Driver led from the front with good batting and bowling performances and he praised the efforts of everyone following their pre-tournament tour to India and in the tournament.
The former Lancashire professional said: ‘It was a wonderful experience for everyone. It’s disappointing that we were relegated, but if we could have finished teams off when we were in very good positions we would have retained our status in the division.
‘That’s the downside of it all. We could not finish teams off when we had them struggling at 80-odd for five in two matches and then, batting against Bahrain, we just failed to get over the winning line.’
