JERSEY Scottish and St Paul’s clash at Springfield tonight in what is a key match at both ends of the Dandara Combination Premiership table, writes Andy Bradshaw.

Scottish, unusually, are staring relegation in the face for the first time in their 50-year history, while victory for the Saints will result in them retaining the James Marquis Memorial Trophy for a third consecutive year while also maintaining their current excellent form. But it’s not as simple as it looks.

The Scots  have the best record in the last 12 months against St Paul’s as they’ve drawn with the current Channel Islands champions twice and beaten them in the Le Riche Trophy final, 2-1 after extra time.

St Paul’s have only failed to score once in the same period, that being the goal-less draw with Scottish at St Saviour last August.

Scottish manager Pat Brennan said: ‘It’s going to be a tough game for us that’s sure; St Paul’s have the best squad in the Channel Islands at present and they have been getting very good results.’
